7 Ways You’re Damaging Your Hair

Did you know that the simplest of things can ruin our hair? Say it isn’t so.

We can point out the obvious items like hot tools, elastic bands, hair dye and permanent extensions, so what else is there?

The quick up do

Wearing your hair up every day strains the hair at the root and can cause hair loss, a reciting hair line and curl our hairs at the front. Wearing the same hair style everyday is also bad for your scalp and will give you some serious neck pain. Ouch!

Girls… let your scalp breathe!

Dry your hair

Don’t take the lazy way out and leave your hair wet after a shower. To keep your hair soft, smooth and fizz free you should always dry your hair on medium heat to prevent breakage. An unknown source recommends sticking your head in the freezer after a hair dry session but that’s just plain silly ha-ha.

Attention: DO NOT STRAIGHTEN WET HAIR!!

AVOID HAIR SPRAY – Instead try out a salon approved texture spray. Hair spray dries out your hair way too much. The textured spray is lighter on your hair and creates a glamourous shine throughout. Hair spray can also make your hair static… we don’t need any more bad hair days.

Celebrity braids

Yes, the popular trend going around is tight braids, and nearly every girl is wearing them these days. BUT did you know it causes a strain on your poor hair. Wait until your hair is completely dry before you create the braids and make them a little loose.

Don’t skip on the conditioner

Guilty! Some of us girls don’t use condition because we feel like our hair will be flat or for the girls with thinner hair, get oily FAST. Your not wrong but finding the right conditioner for your hair is essential, it’s like putting cream on your face. If you’re unsure which product is good for you, we advise you to go and see your hair dresser.

Sleep on silk

This sounds weird, but it works. Resting your head on a cotton pillowcase can cause friction and lead to damaged, frizzy hair. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase can have your hair feeling refreshed, soft and smooth… and you’ll have a better sleep. Score!

Water?

Yasss water.

Constant use of water and washing your hair everyday can cause breakage on your ends and dry out your hair. Salt water is not any better, however, it is good for our skin.
