Founder of Jenica Hair, Jenica Bahun prides herself on the simple idea that it should not be expensive to look and feel like a million dollars. Opening the business in mid‐2016, Jenica Hair is growing fast and its range of hair extension products are becoming highly sought after across Australia.

Locally owned, the business provides a broad range of high quality, ethically sourced, hair extension products which can be purchased online or through a growing number of hair salons. With years of experience dealing with hair and extensive knowledge, about the product.

Ms Bahun, finally decided it was time to introduce her line of superior quality human hair extensions without the major price tag.

‘I have always had a passion for hair, so I wanted to start a business that will provide women everywhere with beautiful quality human hair at an affordable price,” Ms Bahun said today.

‘I have been working with the best hair suppliers in the business, just to design the most amazing, luxurious clip‐in hair extensions and I am proud to say I have done just that. Jenica Hair Extensions have no synthetic blends.

‘The hair is natural human hair that has only been treated with herbal and organic products. ‘The best thing about our designer hair extensions is that you can wear them for absolutely anything – washed, blow-dried, straightened or curled – and still look fabulous.

‘We use the best quality thread when sewing our extensions so customers don’t have to deal with shedding or tangling.

‘The clips are precisely designed for maximum comfort and a lightweight feel. You don’t even need hairspray or teasing!

‘There is no need to stress about colour. If the colour of the hair extension is not an exact match, the hair will still blend because it is made with a multi-tonal colouring system which includes many different tones in each set. All shades are catered for, even in-between shades that can be so hard to match.

‘Jenica Hair is a home-grown Australian brand based out of Sydney. I understand that there are plenty of girls with thin, fine hair who sometimes want to get some extra length and volume; now women across Australia don’t have to pay exorbitant shipping fees to get quality hair extensions from overseas, they can access high quality affordable hair extensions right here in Australia supported by home grown quality service.

We create volume to give more confidence and keep your own hair healthy and glowing. Our range of hair extensions will maintain and support hair with a radiant shine and comfortable clips. Our aim is to provide stunning long locks and big smiles for all those who wear them.

‘As a young fast growing Australian owned and based company, we aim to ensure our products meet the needs of Australian women, suit and complement our distinct styles and stand up to our harsh weather – at an affordable price.”

Interview with Jenica Bahun

Question: What is Jenica Hair?

Jenica Bahun: Jenica Hair is a luxury line of hair extensions. Our hair extensions are made from only the softest of human hair and treated organically – luxury item without the luxury price-tag! We are national and we sell our products online which means when you buy hair extensions from us we deliver them directly to your door.

Question: What inspired the creation of Jenica Hair?

Jenica Bahun: I have always had a passion for hair. I have been wearing hair extensions from the age of 16 and have tried just about every type of hair extension on the market and found them to be of poor quality. I have also watched other women struggle trying to deal with thin hair or hair that was just missing a little bit of volume and realised so many people were spending a lot of money on over-priced hair extensions that were poor quality and synthetic. This inspired me to start a business that would provide women everywhere with beautiful quality human hair at an affordable price. Many of the really expensive hair extensions include cheap clips. Our hair extensions include amazing clips which makes it easy and quick to clip our hair extensions in and they don’t move around or fall out.

Question: Can you talk us through the challenges you faced creating Jenica Hair?

Jenica Bahun: It was difficult as a small business entering the market – there are plenty of beauty products like hair extensions out there already so growing a profile was a definite challenge. I’ve been very fortunate though with celebrity brand ambassadors – like a couple of the lovely ladies from The Bachelor AU and I engaged a great PR firm to help me. All good businesses need the right support so I set about getting good people around me.

Question: Can you share your top hair tips for going from the office to dinner?

Jenica Bahun: Don’t be afraid to let your hair out! Many women enjoy the up-do for the office just because it offers an easy and professional way to keep your hair out of your face while at work. So when leaving the office, let your hair down (literally and figuratively). The freshly messed look be perfect and will add volume when your hair has been up all day! Pop one of our hair extensions in your handbag and a comb and you’ll be able to make the transition from boardroom to bar in a matter of minutes. If you want to keep your hair up, you can pop in one of our pony tails and if you want the full look, you can easily clip in a long volumous hair extension – EASY!

Also, invest in some good product! Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray is a relatively cheap must have! When leaving the office, if you don’t want have your hair looking too flat – just spray this in for some easy waves. It is a great option to keep your handbag.

Question: When did you originally realise many young women are experiencing hair loss?

Jenica Bahun: I started getting quite a few inquiries from young women asking about coverage and thickness. When I asked about this, I found that hair loss is very common in young women for a range of reasons, diet, stress, etc. Hair loss is a common problem but very few people talk about it.

Question: How can Jenica Hair create volume and hide the issue of hair loss?

Jenica Bahun: Hair extensions are an ideal way of creating volume and hiding hair loss so that people don’t even have to know. Our Jenica Hair extensions are all made from natural human hair and are a fabulous colour match for all hair types. People with thinner, or even experiencing hair loss can go from limp lifeless hair to full luscious locks in seconds and this can make all the difference to confidence and even self-esteem.

Question: How does Jenica Hair support young women who are experiencing hair loss?

Jenica Bahun: Our role in the market space is to help women feel fabulous. By offering women products at an affordable price that enable them to improve their self esteem is a wonderful thing to achieve. Young women are very conscious about how they look and our products help them to feel great about themselves. We all have things that we try to keep to ourselves. Our hair extensions help women to hide their hair loss and thinning issues and our products are so natural that no one knows you are even wearing hair extensions.

Question: How will we know which hair extensions are best, for us?

Jenica Bahun: Our website is really comprehensive and we include lots of photos and imagery as well. In addition, we are always on hand to respond to any questions and inquiries. Our hair extensions are multi-tonal so they work with just about every hair colour. Our website makes things easy.

Question: What advice do you have for using and caring for Jenica Hair hair extensions?

Jenica Bahun: Treat them as your own hair! Because they are natural human hair, they require all the usual stuff. Wash and condition, comb and store well so they are instantly ready for use and are without knots.

Question: What’s next for Jenica Hair?

Jenica Bahun: We are growing, increasing awareness of our brand and expanding into salons as well. Ultimately I would like to have Jenica Hair extension bars in every major shopping centre throughout the country and overseas as well.
